I have been dancing for eight years, and enjoy dancing and studying in depth , a wide range of styles including Egyptian cabaret, Saidi, A.T.S (American Tribal Belly dance style) Turkish, Ghawazee, Rom styles, (especially Dalia Carella's Dunyavi Gypsy style and Turkish Rom ) Tunisian and Flamenco etc. I love zills (finger cymbals) and floorwork.
I hope to study other styles in the future, such as more North African dance (such as Moroccan styles and Berber styles) as well looking at dances such as the Danza Mora and working on flamenco-inspired bellydance, while studying similar work done by American " Latina" bellydancer Amaya and also Lorinda ( USA).
Studying and understanding the various styles also makes me feel grounded with A.T.S, which represents a continuum of these above styles.
At the moment I am looking into the pioneers and history of A.T.S and Tribal Fusion.
I started teaching belly dance about three years ago (in Stourbridge, West Midlands) and I incorporate this, with writing and research on Middle Eastern dance (history etc), Middle Eastern/North African /Moorish/Flamenco cultures and histories, anthropology etc, as well women's cultures and health etc in general.
I am about to graduate as a fully qualified ASMED teacher and I dance regularly with Khalgani Dance Group.
