All ASMED teachers are trained to a high standard. They understand the importance of dance safety, good posture, technique and how to make classes fun! Classes are taught with a coherent structure and a view to continued learning development for dancers at all levels. They are happy to provide students with information on the cultural background of the dance, recommend classes or workshops with other teachers, information on local and national events, and very importantly, they are aware of what they don't know and will not offer to teach classes in a subject that they know little about, instead referring students to another teacher with more expertise. ASMED teachers abide by a code of ethics. Afra will not recommend or train any teacher who is not prepared to teach in an ethical manner.
Classes and workshops taught by Afra al Kahira and ASMED teachers are open to all genuine learners regardless of sex, race or creed. Occasionally classes and workshops may be restricted to women, if covering subjects like dance and pregnancy, or if the class is aimed at students who can only attend female-only classes for religious reasons. However, no ASMED teacher will turn away from their normal weekly classes or workshops any man who genuinely wishes to learn to dance .
You can book any ASMED teacher for a workshop by contacting them direct. They are also available to perform at family-friendly events - contact each person direct for information on availability and price guides.
